Mexico Chiapas Turquesa

$16.00

One of our most popular and longest running offerings, we truly love this offering from the Chiapas region in Mexico. Characterized by big, beautiful beans and a balanced and clean tasting cup, this coffee makes for a solid brew that we’ve used as a single origin house coffee as well in blends.

The Specs

Origin: Chiapas, Mexico
Variety: Caturra, Typica, Bourbon, Catuai
Elevation: 900 - 1,100 masl
Processing: fully washed, patio dried
We Taste: sweet, soft, mild to medium acidity, medium body, notes of chocolate and grape
10 oz box,
whole bean coffee
medium roast level

The Chiapas region rejected large coffee farms being developed due to the Zapatista movement’s demand for indigenous rights and land access, leaving ample room for the rise of smallholder farms- often of indigenous descent. These farmers grow, harvest and prepare the coffee by hand and take great pride in providing a superior product. Exporters work carefully to ensure fair-trade practices are in place and the coffee undergoes a two part quality check to guarantee a low level of imperfections.

Turquesa is a medium body coffee with mild to medium acidity, and a soft, clean feel. It’s got a naturally sweet flavor profile with notes of chocolate and grape. This coffee does great in a plain old paper filter brewer. On days we want a little more of a refined cup, we brew it in the Kalita Wave dripper.
