Second Sunday Coffee is a monthly pop up shop in the lobby of Alamo Heights Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX. It takes place from 9AM-10:15AM on the second Sunday of the month and is open to everyone. All beverages are free of charge with an encouraged pantry donation item or any monetary amount, directly benefitting the church’s established community food pantry.

All financial donations go in entirety to the Second Sunday Coffee fund and contribute directly to providing more food to anyone and everyone in the community.

Our goal is to provide proteins, dairy & fresh goods to those seeking food at the pantry to flesh out the already available pantry staples being provided.

This program was birthed from a pastor who loves coffee & a coffee roaster who loves Jesus. We first began talking about this idea with Bobby Contreras in 2020 and have finally brought the idea to fruition!

Bluebonnet Coffee was built on hard work, preserverence and passion. We have known first hand about food insecurity. We want to use our platform and resources as a business to support and enhance this community program to help those suffering that reality as this present time. By using our time and talents to serve the community and enhance the AHBC pantry, we’re serving the Lord as well.

The pop up shop is run 100% by volunteers under the training and management of Bluebonnet founders John & Whitney Sanchez. Volunteers are learning valuable job skills, coffee knowledge & customer service experience. They get to share the joy of coffee and charitably give their time and energy to support a cause greater than themselves.
